Practical Fiber and PoE Connectivity for Small Networks

CG204P-B is an unmanaged 4 ports wallmount type PoE media converter designed for IP surveillance, small office networks, retail stores, hotels, and similar installations where copper cabling needs to connect to a longer fiber link. It combines four 10/100/1000Mbps RJ45 ports with two 1000Base-X SC fiber ports, giving installers a straightforward way to connect PoE cameras, wireless access points, VoIP devices, or other Ethernet equipment across a fiber backbone.

For a typical camera deployment, the four Gigabit PoE ports connect powered devices at the local side, while the two SC fiber ports carry network traffic toward a central switch, NVR, or control room. The fiber connection helps overcome the practical distance limit of standard copper Ethernet and also separates field equipment from electrical interference that may be present in workshops, warehouses, parking areas, or larger buildings. Depending on the selected optical transceiver, the link can support multimode distances up to 2 km or single-mode distances from 20 km to 100 km.

PoE Without Extra Configuration

Each RJ45 port supports IEEE 802.3af/at Standard PoE and can provide up to 25.4W to a compatible powered device. The converter checks whether the connected equipment supports PoE before applying power, helping protect ordinary non-PoE Ethernet devices from accidental power delivery. This is useful when a network includes a mix of cameras, uplink equipment, computers, and access points, because the installer does not need to separate every cable by device type.

All copper ports negotiate 10/100/1000Mbps speed, half or full duplex operation, and MDI/MDI-X automatically. In practice, this reduces setup errors when replacing older switches or connecting cables with different wiring arrangements. Wire-speed forwarding, store-and-forward switching, a 12Gbps switching bandwidth, and an 8.928Mpps forwarding rate keep everyday video and data traffic moving smoothly across the device.

Easy Deployment and Low Maintenance

This Gigabit PoE media converter uses a plug-and-play design, so there is no IP address, VLAN setting, or software configuration to manage. That makes it a good fit for installers who need to bring a remote camera group online quickly, as well as small businesses without a dedicated network administrator. Link, activity, PoE, optical, and power LEDs provide a quick view of port status during commissioning or fault checks.

The metal housing supports passive cooling without a fan. With no moving cooling parts, the device produces less maintenance work and avoids fan noise in offices, security rooms, and small communication cabinets. Its low power consumption also helps limit heat buildup during continuous operation. The unit can be placed on a desktop or installed in a rack, while the compact 201 × 100 × 39mm enclosure fits neatly into space-limited network areas.

Where It Fits

Use this 4 port PoE fiber media converter for surveillance links in shops, supermarkets, residential buildings, hotels, and small to medium-sized enterprises. It is particularly useful when several PoE endpoints are located together but the network must return to a remote equipment room over fiber. Before ordering, confirm the required SC optical mode, wavelength, and transmission distance, as well as the available DC power source. For day-to-day operation, the result is simple: fewer configuration steps, flexible Gigabit connectivity, and a practical way to extend PoE networking beyond standard copper cable distance.
