Built for Surveillance: A 16 Port PoE Switch That Goes the Distance

If you’re setting up IP cameras in a hotel, supermarket, or small office, you already know the pain: power outlets far from cameras, network runs hitting the 100-meter limit, and broadcast storms eating bandwidth. This 16 port PoE switch solves those headaches without needing a networking degree. It’s unmanaged, so you just plug in cameras and recording equipment—no configuration required. The 16 Fast Ethernet ports each deliver up to 25.4W of PoE (IEEE 802.3af/at), enough to power PTZ cameras or wireless access points. Total PoE budget is 200W, so you can run a mix of devices without worrying about overload.

Here’s where it gets interesting: flip the DIP switch to Extend mode, and ports 1–16 drop to 10Mbps, but the transmission distance jumps to 250 meters over standard Cat5 cable. That means you can place a camera at the far corner of a parking lot without adding a separate PoE extender. In the same mode, those 16 ports are isolated from each other—they only talk to the uplink ports (17–19). This cuts down broadcast traffic and keeps your surveillance network stable even when dozens of cameras are streaming. For normal everyday use, leave the DIP switch in Standard mode, and all ports communicate freely.

The uplink side gives you two Gigabit copper ports and one SFP slot (1.25Gbps), so you can connect your switch to a router, NVR, or fiber backbone.
