L3 Industrial Switching for Fiber-Heavy Networks
The IS830-12E8F4F is a managed 24-port L3 industrial fiber switch built for factory networks, transport systems, outdoor cabinets, utility sites, and distributed IP surveillance. It combines 12 Gigabit RJ45 ports, 8 dual-speed 100/1000M SFP slots, and 4 1/10G SFP+ slots. This layout gives installers plenty of fiber access ports while leaving high-speed paths available for aggregation, control-room servers, or a core switch.
Some project searches describe a “44-port L3 managed industrial fiber switch with 28 SFP 4 SFP+ 10G uplink rack mount.” That specification does not match this model: the IS830-12E8F4F provides 24 data ports, including 8 SFP and 4 SFP+ ports, and supports desktop or DIN-rail installation rather than rack mounting. Designed for Stable Industrial Operation
In a plant or roadside cabinet, a network switch must keep working when temperature, vibration, electrical noise, and maintenance access are not ideal. The aluminum housing helps move heat away from internal components, while fanless cooling removes a common mechanical failure point and keeps cabinet noise low. The switch operates from -40°C to +80°C and accepts 12–48VDC input through industrial Phoenix terminals. Two redundant DC power inputs allow the network to remain online if one power source or wiring path fails.
For ring networks, G.8032 ERPS can restore communication in less than 20 ms after a link break. STP, RSTP, and MSTP are also available for different topologies. Up to 4K VLANs can separate production devices, office traffic, cameras, voice endpoints, and management access without adding separate switches for every service. QinQ and Voice VLAN functions help when the industrial network connects to a larger service-provider or enterprise network.
Security controls are aimed at everyday administration rather than complicated one-off deployments. Administrators can use ACL rules from Layer 2 to Layer 4, 802.1X or MAC authentication, IP-MAC-VLAN-port binding, DHCP snooping, ARP inspection, port isolation, storm control, and MAC learning limits. QoS supports 802.1p and DSCP mapping with eight queues per port, so control messages or voice traffic can receive priority when large data transfers are running.
Remote Troubleshooting Without Extra Site Visits
Web management over HTTPS, CLI access through console, Telnet, or SSH 2.0, and SNMP v1/v2c/v3 give IT teams several ways to operate the switch. LLDP, RMON, system logs, port statistics, cable diagnosis, ping testing, CPU and memory monitoring help narrow down a fault before sending an engineer to the site. The switch can also connect to an optical network management platform through LLDP and SNMP for centralized monitoring.
With 598 Gbps switching capacity and 89.28 Mpps forwarding performance, all interfaces support wire-speed store-and-forward switching for normal traffic loads.
