The IS700-16E is a 16-port full gigabit managed industrial Ethernet switch for control cabinets, factory floors, transport systems, substations, and other networks where stable communication matters more than unnecessary extras. It provides 16 auto-sensing 10/100/1000Base-T RJ45 ports, allowing existing copper devices, IP cameras, PLCs, access points, servers, and automation equipment to connect at gigabit speed.
Some buyers search for an 8-port gigabit managed industrial fiber switch with 8 SFP ports when planning a fiber backbone. The IS700-16E is a different configuration: it uses 16 gigabit RJ45 data ports and does not include SFP fiber ports. This makes it a practical choice for projects that need high-density copper access at the cabinet or machine level. If the installation specifically requires eight SFP ports, a fiber switch model should be selected instead.
Designed for Link Continuity and Easier Recovery
Industrial networks often cannot wait for a technician to replace a cable or restart a switch. The IS700-16E supports STP, RSTP, and MSTP for standard Layer 2 redundancy, plus G.8032 ERPS ring protection with a recovery time of less than 20 ms under the specified network conditions. When a ring link is interrupted, traffic can be redirected quickly to keep PLC communications, monitoring systems, and access control services online.
For larger or more structured networks, the switch supports static routing and default routes, IPv4/IPv6 management, LACP, static aggregation, and up to 4K IEEE 802.1Q VLANs. Administrators can separate office traffic, production equipment, voice services, CCTV streams, and maintenance access without installing separate physical networks. IGMP snooping and multicast VLAN functions also help prevent unnecessary multicast traffic from spreading across every connected port.
Security and Traffic Control at the Access Layer
The switch gives network teams practical controls for devices connected at the edge. IEEE 802.1X and MAC authentication can restrict access to approved endpoints, while IP-MAC-VLAN-port binding, DHCP snooping, ARP inspection, IP source protection, and MAC learning limits help reduce common Layer 2 risks. Port isolation and broadcast storm control are useful when equipment from different departments or production zones shares the same cabinet.
QoS supports 802.1p and DSCP priority mapping, eight output queues per port, and SP, WRR, or SP+WRR scheduling. This allows time-sensitive control data, voice traffic, and video streams to receive suitable treatment when links become busy. ACL rules can filter traffic by MAC address, IP address, protocol, TCP/UDP port, VLAN, and other fields from Layer 2 through Layer 4.
Built for Cabinets, Remote Sites, and Harsh Conditions
The fanless aluminum housing reduces moving-part failures and keeps routine maintenance simple. The switch operates from -40°C to +80°C and accepts 12-48VDC input through a 6-pin industrial Phoenix terminal. Dual redundant DC power inputs allow a backup power source to be connected, while reverse-polarity protection adds another layer of installation safety. The optional 24W industrial power supply is purchased separately because DIN-rail models are not supplied with a power adapter by default.
Installation is straightforward on a DIN rail or desktop. Front-panel LEDs show power, system, and link activity, so technicians can check basic status without opening a management session. HTTPS, SSH, SNMP v1/v2c/v3, console CLI, Telnet, LLDP, RMON, system logs, NTP, ping testing, cable diagnostics, CPU monitoring, and memory monitoring support both local troubleshooting and centralized operation.
